Our Trustees

The Switch is governed by a Board of Trustees, our trustees are drawn from education, business, local government as well, as alumni of our programmes.

During the year our Board meets four times and approve key strategic and budgeting decisions, significant new programme activity and key policies and procedures. The Board receives the latest management accounts prior to its meetings.

The following are members of The Switch Board of Trustees and serve as directors of the company, all trustees sign up to our Trustee Charter setting out their commitment and responsibilities to The Switch, see below:

Clifford Chance

Mark Campbell is a Special Counsel at Clifford Chance LLP with over 40 years experience of advising major financial institutions and corporate borrowers on their most complex and high profile loan and restructuring transactions. He became a trustee at The Switch after volunteering as a Reading Partner and seeing at first hand the difference that The Switch's programmes can make to the lives of young people. Mark is also a school governer in Tower Hamlets and a Member of a local Multi Academy Trust.

Anita is a senior market analyst with 30 years experience and has worked at within Research at Morgan Stanley for the last 15 years. In 2012, she began volunteering with The Switch and became a trustee in 2020. Anita is passionate about helping young people attain the skills and knowledge they need to help them into employment. Outside work, Anita enjoys travel and cooking.

A mum of two, Berna carries the memory of her late son in all she does, channelling her deep sense of justice, equality, and compassion into her work. She believes financial education should start early, helping individuals gain confidence and independence. Berna is a passionate advocate for financial literacy and inclusion, with a strong background in empowering women through education. As the founder of a CIC focused on women’s financial empowerment, she is dedicated to making financial knowledge accessible to all. Becoming a trustee at The Switch aligns with her mission to create meaningful change, ensuring young people and communities have the tools to build secure financial futures.

Fatima is a Deputy Headteacher with over 15 years of experience in teaching and school leadership, specializing in leading quality of education at post 16 and teaching English across all ages.  She became a trustee at The Switch to broaden the opportunities young people have to work with employers from different industries and accelerate social progression. Fatima is passionate about fostering high aspirations in young learners and believes  this aligns with the visions of The Switch Charity. Outside of her professional work, Fatima enjoys reading and gardening.

Jade is an Assistant Headteacher at a primary school in Tower Hamlets, with ten years of experience in leading and developing curriculum subjects within schools. Jade has been a trustee at The Switch for almost 18 months, providing support with how the charity works with local Schools. Jade is extremely passionate about children’s education and believes that it can increase children’s life chances. This aligns with the mission and work that The Switch do. Outside of her professional work, Jade enjoys dancing, playing sports and reading a good thriller!

As a Tower Hamlets alumnus, I became an Alumni Trustee at The Switch to give back to the community that shaped me. Having personally benefited from local educational opportunities, I understand what students need to thrive academically and beyond. My experiences studying outside London and working in the corporate world have broadened my perspectives, enabling me to bring diverse insights to the role. I have always wanted to give back to the community that raised me, directly or indirectly – the ability to now use this combination of local insight and broader experiences is why I joined The Switch.

Rachel is an Audit Director with over 15 years of experience working with large listed entities in the UK and overseas.  She became a trustee at the Switch because, as a working mother, education and supporting education is really important to her and the work that The Switch does engaging businesses with local schools and young people is not only really exciting, but also so important to give young people from all backgrounds the best opportunities in life.  Outside of her professional work, Rachel is a School Governor and enjoys spending her weekends on the sidelines of various sporting activities supporting her 2 young children.

With an academic background in aerospace engineering, he brings a fresh and innovative perspective to his role at The Switch, where his dedication first started as a volunteer before joining the board. As a former firefighter and an active volunteer with various initiatives, Lobo's passion for empowering the community and driving meaningful change is at the heart of everything he advocates for.
