Work Experience

Unlock Potential: Nurture Tomorrow’s Talent Today

For over 30 years, The Switch has been at the heart of Tower Hamlets, connecting students with invaluable Work Experience placements that open doors to the world beyond the classroom. We help young people build confidence, develop employability skills and discover opportunities that inspire their ambitions and shape their futures.

Our Work Experience programme continues to bring schools, students and employers together. In our latest programme, 8 schools, 1,266 students and 235 employers took part. With partnerships across a diverse range of sectors, from retail and health and social care to business and finance, we connect students with placements that reflect their interests and career aspirations.

We support students to find placements in their preferred industry and prepare them for the workplace, while providing employers with guidance on hosting a Work Experience student and ongoing support throughout the placement. This helps create meaningful experiences that benefit both students and employers.

Join us in nurturing tomorrow’s talent by hosting a Work Experience placement. Give a young person the opportunity to develop their skills, explore their potential and take their first steps towards the future they want. Together, we can bridge the gap between school and the workplace, strengthen our community and empower young people to discover their best future.

Invest in potential. Invest in community. Invest in the future.

“Before work experience, I had almost no idea about my future - I was kind of lost, I was really confused about jobs. Now I have more of an idea of what I want to do in the future. So I would say this experience really did help me.”

Student at London Enterprise Academy

“We had 10 Year 12 students from George Green’s School for Work Experience at Michael Page, and they were nothing short of brilliant. Each student really showed up for themselves, engaged in all activities and asked excellent questions. The future generation of work is in very good hands with young people like this.”
