Mason came to us with lots of experience already, he is a Fire Cadet and works at fire stations in Tower Hamlets 5 nights a week! He really enjoys writing and has expressed an interest in Canva.
We believe the best way for you to hear about Mason’s experience, is in his own words:
Hi, my name is Mason, I have grown up in Tower Hamlets since I was born and I’ve been to Primary and Secondary here and now I’m a sixth form student at a special needs school called Phoenix Secondary School in Bow.
I’ve been doing a work placement with a charity called The Switch. During my time at The Switch I’ve met a lot of lovely people and learnt tons of new life skills and experiences with the team.
On the first week I started I was met by a nice fellow named John, the IT guy, who showed me around the office and taught me about some of the IT side of things at the office and he gave me a very long lecture about old computer games.
The jobs and tasks I’ve done in the office include; graphic design, data entry, and creating resources for the primary and secondary teams. I also helped out during an interview with a young Podcaster named Maya from Tower Hamlets (podcast ‘That’s My Name’) and helped decorate the office for Christmas this year!
Overall, it’s been the best work placement I’ve been on during my years at Phoenix. I’d like to say a big thank you to Ellie, John, Ilana, both Abigail’s, Beryl and Helen for allowing me to working at the office with them. I hope to work with the team in the future.
A big thank you to Mason for joining us!
We loved having Mason with us this term and can’t wait for the next student from Phoenix School to join us in the new year!
