Welcome to our new Alumni Project Coordinator, Asad Jamil!

This month we welcomed Asad Jamil to team Switch as our new Alumni Project Coordinator in our Secondary Team. Asad joins at a crucial time for our Alumni project as we recently launched our Alumni Portal.

Asad joins us as part of the Jack Petchey Internship Programme with 30 other interns from different youth organisations in London and Essex. This development programme involves a launch conference, four professional development workshops through the year and a celebration event at the end of the programme.

Tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Asad, I am the Alumni Project Coordinator for The Switch. Prior to this I completed my MA in Postcolonial Studies at SOAS.

Where did you work before The Switch?

Before working at The Switch, I volunteered as a News Monitor at a refugee charity called Paiwand, as well as working at my University’s Students’ Union.

What are you looking forward to working at The Switch?

At The Switch, I am looking forward to getting involved in helping with the various projects we do to help young people.

Any hobbies?

Whenever I have the free time I try to travel as much as possible.

What is one thing you have learnt over this very strange few years?

Over these past few pandemic years I have learnt the benefits of making sure you take some time to yourself everyday to clear your mind.
