Positive Pathways

The Positive Pathways programme that is tackling the digital divide and supporting young people to flourish in a post-COVID-19 world.

We are pleased to announce the launch of a brand-new programme, Positive Pathways, which will see Tower Hamlets EBP working with Inspire EBP (Hackney), 15 Billion EBP (Newham) and Southwark EBA (Southwark) over this academic year.

With support from JPMorgan Chase as part of the firm’s $350 million global commitment to the future of work, the project will work with 500 young people across the four boroughs to support them re-engage in their learning, which has been significantly disrupted due to the impact of the COVID-19.

The programme seeks to increase motivation and confidence in their study skills and to raise awareness of education, training and employment pathways after compulsory level education. It will also provide each young person with a technology device and data to help address the digital divide issue affecting a large number of young people. This digital support will enable them to develop their digital skills, participate in project activities and engage in further learning outside of the classroom.

The programme activities will focus on four themes: academic support; personal development and wellbeing; employment, post-16 and 18 options; employability skills and career readiness. We look forward to seeing our young people achieve their very best as they participate in this programme!

“JPMorgan Chase has a long history of providing need led support to the local communities in which they operate, and they have stepped up again in a most generous way. Digital poverty has created a clear division in which young people living in areas of higher deprivation are unable to access learning opportunities from home. During the COVID-19 pandemic they missed 7 months of schooling. Because of this new commitment, 500 young people with the greatest need, will have intensive support during their vital exam year to level up and reach their true potential. It is a fantastic response from JPMorgan Chase, and we are delighted to partner with the firm, our neighbouring EBPs and partner schools to make this happen.”

– Helen Sanson, Director, Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership

“JPMorgan Chase is committed to helping young people prepare for their future careers. Given the disruption of the past academic year as a result of school closures and remote teaching, additional support at this time is key. We are really pleased that through this project 500 young people across Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Newham and Southwark will be engaged in activities to help bolster their study and employability skills and will be provided with technology to enable them to fully participate in future learning at home.”

– Stephanie Mestrallet, Head of UK Programming, Global Philanthropy, JPMorgan Chase

“Working alongside the EBPs on the Positive Pathways programme will ensure our students have the best possible outcomes after the impact of COVID-19, this is our number one priority.”

– Mr Kemp, Careers Lead, George Green’s Secondary School
