Tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Faith Apere, I’m 21 years old and I’m a Biomedical Science graduate. I didn’t have much passion for Biomed and have decided to go through a career transition into the Project management field, whilst studying I took up jobs which were more suited to admin and project management and with the support from my mentor, friends, and family they helped me navigate my way through this new journey much more easily.
I attended Attlee A-level Academy from 2018-2020 and I’m happy to now be apart of a company who supports young people in the area I went to college in.
Where did you work before The Switch?
Before I worked at The Switch, I worked for an organisation called Girls Under Construction, who connects young diverse females to the construction and built environment industry by educating and inspiring them, through the use of resources, social media and real life stories. I worked there for about 2 years and worked as an Administrative Office and Project Coordinator, managing a small team, I managed small and big project and liaised via email with stakeholders, companies and schools.
Any hobbies?
I love to dance and bake and I’m just to keen to gain more knowledge and skill within the area.
What is one thing you have learnt over the last few years of adversity?
One thing I have learnt is to never give up and don’t see present situations as the be all and end all, realising I didn’t have a passion for Biomedical science put me in a position where I was questioning a lot of things, but looking back at it now, what I’ve learnt is that I must see everything as a lesson, try new things and everything, gain skills from everything I’m doing and that will help me for the next phase of my life.
